Coach Crittenden enters the Blue Devil coaching staff in 2011 as the Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator for his second year. Coach Crittenden came to Marietta as the former Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Lee Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Coach “Critt” directed the Lee Davis offense to its most productive seasons in recent memory, scoring over 32 points and amassing well over 300 yards per game. Directing a balanced attack, Coach Critt combined a potent rushing attack with a dangerous passing game to help build a Lee Davis program and bring them to playoff contention in just two short years. Coach Critt was selected by other coaches as the Assistant Coach of the Year in the Richmond area following the 2009 season.
Prior to his tenure at Lee-Davis, Coach Critt spent five years coaching with Coach Burton at Highland Springs High School. During that time, Coach Critt displayed tremendous versatility and knowledge, serving as an assistant coach at multiple positions while also directing the junior varsity program to one undefeated season as well as a 9-1 season in his two years as Head Coach. With over a decade of coaching experience, Coach Critt possesses an extremely solid knowledge base. More importantly, however, is Coach Crittenden’s work ethic and commitment to the overall development of his players. Always willing to do anything necessary to help his players succeed, Coach Critt’s players quickly realize how much he cares about them and a strong relationship almost always results. Over the years, Coach Crittenden has always tutored his players, helped them prepare for the SAT and ACT tests, and taken them on recruiting visits to expose them to opportunities beyond high school.
In addition to his role on the football staff, Coach Crittenden will also be a part of the coaching staff of the Blue Devil Track & Field program. Prior to entering the teaching and coaching profession, Coach Crittenden was an offensive lineman at Randolph Macon College where he contributed to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship in 1997. Away from athletics, Coach Crittenden is a decorated English teacher who brings the same passion and energy to the classroom as he does in his coaching career.
