Jason Meade

Assistant Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator / Defensive Line Coach

Jason Meade is entering his second season as a member of the Blue Devil coaching staff.  He will again serve as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.  On the field, he will return to his coaching roots by working with the Blue Devil Defensive Line.

Prior to moving to Marietta, Coach Meade served as the Head Football Coach for Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia in 2008 and 2009.  Over those two years, Meade compiled a 10 and 10 record, going 4 and 6 in 2008 and 6 and 4 in 2009.  By instilling the principles of the FIST (Communication, Trust, Collective Responsibilities, Pride, and Caring), Meade and his staff were able to reinvigorate the Lee-Davis program that had experienced limited success the previous seven seasons.  Their philosophy to develop players who strive for excellence in life, in the classroom, and on the athletic field transformed an entire community and set the solid foundation at Lee-Davis High School.

After the 2009 season, Coach Meade was one of seven national winners of the National High School Spirit of Sport Award which is presented by the National Federation of State High School Associations.  He was nominated for the Character Education Program and the Academic Success Program that was instituted within the football program at Lee-Davis High School.

Before starting his stint at the Lee-Davis helm, Meade spent five years teaching Biology and coaching the defensive line at Highland Springs High School under current Marietta head coach Scott Burton. While at Highland Springs, Meade served as the Defensive Coordinator from 2005 to 2007, helping the Springers win the Capital District in 2005 and 2007 and making playoff appearances every year he coached at Highland Springs. He was named the Touchdown Club of Richmond's Capital District Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2007 season.  As the defensive line coach at Highland Springs, Meade’s tutelage helped four “Trench Dogs” earn scholarships to continue playing at the collegiate level.  Nine other defensive players also had the opportunity to continue their careers at the next level.

Meade started his coaching career in 2000 at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina.  In his first year at Wingate, he worked with the offensive line.  In 2001, Joe Reich was named the head coach and Meade was promoted to the defensive line coach.  In addition to his coaching duties at Wingate University, Coach Meade also served as the Director of Football Operations, having considerable administrative and organizational responsibilities with respect to the overall operation of the football program.

Coach Meade is a graduate of Varina High School in Richmond, Virginia; James Madison University (BS – Biology) in Harrisonburg, Virginia; and Wingate University (MBA) in Wingate, North Carolina.  He and his wife Jessica are excited live in Marietta, Georgia.  Jessica was raised in Chesterfield, South Carolina and works for SunTrust’s Education Loan Department.  They have two daughters, Savannah Ashton Meade, who was born on 31 March 2007 and Raleigh Addison Meade, who was born on 30 April 2010.
