Marietta High School Blue Devil Football

Coach Sperling is entering his third season as a member of the Blue Devil Middle School coaching staff. Coach Sperling had the unique opportunity to coach the first team assembled at the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy in 2009. Coach Sperling is an alumnus of Marietta High School and graduated in 1997.  Despite not starting a Varsity game until his Senior year, he made a huge splash by scoring not one but two touchdowns as a Defensive Lineman during the 1996 season.  This record stands today and Coach Sperling loves to tell you that he averages 40 yards a carry.  After high school, Coach Sperling went on to pursue other things and it wasn’t until 2004 that he returned to college to get his degree in Early Childhood Education K-5.  Coach Sperling is now a second grade teacher at Sawyer Road Elementary School where he will be entering his second year as an educator.  Coach Sperling brings fun and excitement to both his classroom and football field, but expects hard work from both groups of kids. Coach Sperling is married to his lovely wife Elaine and has two beautiful children, Mallory who is 2 and Fraser who is 5 months old.
