Dr. Eduardo Montaña is a Board Certified Preventive Pediatric Cardiologists and one of the few Pediatric Cardiologist nationally who is board eligible in Clinical Lipidology, the diagnosis, management and treatment of Pediatric Cholesterol disorders.
Dr. Montaña completed both his training in Preventive Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology at the Emory University School of Medicine as well as his Masters of Public Health at the world renowned Rollins School of Public Health. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics having attained his General Pediatric training at the University of Miami.
In the early nineties, Dr. Montaña was awarded and completed an appointment at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Environmental Health and Health Promotion in the Epidemiology Intelligence Service. He later served on faculty at Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He remains an active staff member of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Dr. Montaña in 2001 founded and remains the Executive Medical Officer of Children’s Cardiovascular Medicine, a private practice in the Metropolitan Atlanta area covering the needs of infants, children, adolescent and young adults of the State Georgia Children between six office locations. Children’s Cardiovascular Medicine is dedicated to the health and wellness of Georgia’s children and their families and offers a wide range of Pediatric Cardiology and Preventive Medicine evaluations, diagnosis and treatment services.
Children’s Cardiovascular Medicine uniquely provides the only Preventive Pediatric Cardiology and Family Preventive Lifestyle medicine services by specialized Preventive Medicine Physician in the State of Georgia.
Dr. Montaña currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) and serves has for 3 years served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia (HHCGA), a Non Profit whose mission includes promotion of Health Equity and Health Access to Culturally and Linguistically Competent clinical prevention services (CLAS standard). Dr. Montaña in his charge nationally and regionally as Board Chair of HHCGA has been instrumental in making preventive health education a cornerstone issue for all families and children a cornerstone of the healthcare debate.
Dr. Montaña earned his MBA in Healthcare Administration and Management from University of Colorado Executive Health Care Business School. His professional interest includes development of an “Integrated Care Model” for private practices in Family, Pediatric and Subspecialty Medicine that emphasizes quality outcomes within a network of Prevention and Health Promotion services.
As a Preventive Pediatric Cardiologist specialist, Dr. Montaña has incorporated his health planning activities on adaptable socio-cultural, nutritional and physical activity solutions to combat emerging non-communicable disease in our state and region such as premature cardiovascular disease and Diabetes and attendant co-morbid conditions stemming from the childhood obesity epidemic.
Dr. Montaña enjoys spending time in the Appalachia back country with his wife, Juliana, and three teenage children and three year old. An instrument rated pilot, Dr. Montaña enjoys taking the “10,000 feet” view of the world we live in.
