Labrone Mitchell

Wide Receiver Coach

LaBrone Mitchell is entering his fourteenth season as an assistant football coach for the Marietta Blue Devils. Coach Mitchell has been a successful receivers coach for the Blue Devils program. While coaching at Marietta, Coach Mitchell has coached over a dozen explosive receivers who have signed full scholarships to universities to continue their athletic and academic careers. Coach Mitchell has coached 9 winning seasons including two Regional Championship teams. In addition, Coach Mitchell has played a major role in the Junior Varsity program, serving as the Head Coach and an Assistant Coach.

As a player, Coach Mitchell played for Coach Dexter Woods and Coach James Friday Richards, two of the most successful coaches in the state. A proud graduate of Marietta High School, Coach Mitchell was a successful three year starter for the Blue Devils from 1994 to 1996. Coach Mitchell’s record as the starting quarterback was 35 and 5. He received All State and All County recognitions in addition to winning three Region Championships. Coach Mitchell received a full scholarship to the University of Georgia where he was a two year starter. While at Georgia he graduated with a degree in Sports Leadership. In 2002, he signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions. In 2010, Coach Mitchell was inducted into the Marietta High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his athletic accomplishments while at Marietta High School. Coach Mitchell now serves as a member of the Marietta Hall of Fame Committee.

Coach Mitchell and his lovely wife, Sandra, met at the University of Georgia and have been married for eleven years. Coach Mitchell and his wife Sandra have been blessed with two wonderful children, LaBrone Mitchell II and Lea Mitchell.
